In 1924, Bram Stoker’s famous novel was adapted for the first time here in Derby. Alex Davis, a Researcher on the University of Derby’s Dracula Returns to Derby project, discusses how Dracula became one of the all-time most adapted characters. For every Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee, there’s an adaptation that even Bram Stoker could never have dreamed of. Alex explores some of the most obscure and unexpected versions of Dracula, from the wild west to the discos of 1970s New York to the far-flung reaches of space – and everything in between!CivicLAB is based at the University of Derby. The city is a UNESCO City of Life Long Learning and home to World Heritage Sites. CivicLAB has been designed to support academics, creative & cultural industry professionals, freelance creatives and the public to share their insights on research and practice through a place-based approach to knowledge generation.
