About this Event
Our 11th annual Civic Art Lab examines the evolving intersections of sustainability, art and design, belonging, and displacement. As more communities around the world face the challenges of climate-related relocation (UNHCR, 2023), creative solutions are needed more than ever. While displacement often arises from crisis, it also gives rise to powerful forms of resilience–mutual aid networks, and reimagining of home and community. These experiences invite us to rethink sustainability not only as environmental stewardship, but as the capacity to build and sustain meaningful connections to people and places in times of crisis and change.
Please note: Free tickets are sold out however there is an option to make a donation. We greatly appreciate your support to keep our project going in its 11th year!

Civic Art Lab is a hosted by GreenspaceNYC (www.greenspacenyc.org). Proposals may consider didactic or interactive elements that encourage remote participation as well as face-to-face interaction, in order to spur ideas over the multi-day course of the lab. This may include participatory art, time-based media, performance, group dialogue, interactive elements, games, or learning materials, in addition to more traditional programs such as talks and panel discussions.
