Author and food historian Becky Libourel Diamond will present highlights from her newest book “City Tavern in Philadelphia: The Founding Table.
The City Tavern is just a short walk away from Independence Hall. It served as a meeting and eating place for many of America’s Founding Fathers. George Washington briefly used it as his headquarters, and he enjoyed a grand banquet there on his way to his inauguration.
Becky Diamond will describe the ins and outs of the 18th century tavern, the people who dined there, and the kinds of foods and beverages that were offered.
The program is free, and no reservations are needed. Seating is on a first-come basis.
