The City of Topeka is inviting residents to participate in the final free Tire Takeback event as part of the City’s Changing Our Culture of Property Maintenance initiative. The event is designed to help residents properly dispose of unwanted tires while supporting cleaner and more attractive neighborhoods throughout the community.
The Tire Takeback event will take place on Saturday July 11, 2026.
It will be held on from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the City of Topeka Utility Yard located near SE Lakewood Boulevard and SE 21st Street.
Topeka residents may dispose of up to 10 tires per person free of charge. The program is available only to City of Topeka residents, and participants must present a valid ID showing their address when dropping off tires.
Improperly discarded tires can create environmental concerns, attract pests, and negatively impact neighborhood appearance. City officials hope these events will encourage residents to safely dispose of old tires and contribute to ongoing property maintenance efforts across Topeka.
For additional information about the Tire Takeback events or the Changing Our Culture of Property Maintenance initiative, residents are encouraged to contact the City of Topeka Property Maintenance Division at 785-368-3161.
