Celebrate City of Forest Day with us wandering through the Lower East Side, identifying trees around the neighborhood by their fall leaves!
About this Event

There are millions of trees from over 200 species in New York City. In this walk we will talk about different species of trees planted in NYC and how they are able to thrive in the harsh urban environment. We will learn to recognize different trees by their leaves as well as their bark. We will visit trees that are locally evolved to this land and trees that have been introduced at different points in history.

Please bring any questions you may have about the urban ecosystem and wear comfortable walking shoes. We will walk at a leisurely pace and cover about a mile of city streets.

Meet at the flagpole outside the public restroom building in Seward Park.
