Shinrin-Yoku United presents: Forest Bathing Nature Therapy: (9:30 AM - 11:30 AM) - Forest therapy, also known as forest bathing, is a nature therapy based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku. It is an approach where you take the time to reconnect with nature, with your body, your senses, feelings and emotions.
Tree ID and Scavenger Hunt: (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM) - Fun for families to explore Snug Harbor’s trees with a chance to win a sustainability prize!
Apple Cider Pressing Party: (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM) - Gather some beautiful apples and turn them into cider with Heritage Farm! Enjoy treats and learn the many wonderful things you can do with apples and the apple pulp left over from cider pressing.
Tree Mulching: (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM) - Trees take care of you every day: show some respect by learning how to mulch them with compost! Mulching with compost allows for moisture conservation by slowing evaporation and increasing the organic matter that can hold water.
Trees of Snug Harbor Walk: (1:00 PM – 2:30 PM) - Join us on a walking tour of Director of Horticulture, Greg Lord’s, favorite trees across our historic campus. With over 30 years of experience stewarding Snug Harbor’s landscapes, we will share the unique qualities, fascinating histories, and ecological significance of these remarkable trees.
