The Bellevue Grand Connection: I-405 Crossing – Downtown to Eastrail project, also referred to as the Grand Connection Crossing, is part of the city’s broader initiative led by the Office of the Grand Connection to establish a 1.5-mile activated corridor with vibrant, welcoming spaces between Meydenbauer Bay and Eastrail.

The Grand Connection Crossing is the heart of the Grand Connection program and the key to making downtown more accessible for all who live, work, learn or play in Bellevue.

The City is targeting an RFP release as soon as this fall to select a heavy civil GC/CM contractor to construct the Grand Connection Crossing.

Scopes of work (subject to completion of design):

• Concrete (formwork, placement, finishing); possibly precast
• Rebar (supply and tie)
• Foundations (drilled shaft)
• MOT / flagging
• Electrical
• Mechanical (plumbing and elevators)
• Irrigation
• Landscaping
• Waterproofing
• Aesthetic finishes, including handrails, barrier/fence/railing/guardrail and benches
• Trucking
• Noise and vibration monitoring
• Construction site support services including site safety
• Site prep (clearing/grubbing) and demolition; tree removal
• Survey
• Post-tensioning Suppliers and Stressing Companies
• Drainage/Detention Vault/Flow Control
• Waterline
• Sanitary Sewer
• Steam Pipes
• Fire Protection Systems
• Pavement Markings
• Traffic Signal, ITS and Illumination
• Utility adjustments
• Dewatering
• MSE Walls (potentially)
• Concrete flatwork

Prime contractors who intend to pursue this project are invited to reserve a resource table at the event. This is a valuable opportunity to:

The Grand Connection Crossing will connect from City Hall Plaza to the west and King County’s Eastrail on the eastside of Interstate 405 (I-405) providing a safe and enjoyable public space for all to walk, bike, roll or gather. *Renderings show potential future development and do not reflect any specific proposals.
