Citizen Science at Carter Quail Ranch

Grab your fishing gear and join Explore Volusia Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann for a citizen science opportunity at Carter Quail Ranch. Cast your line and assist Volusia County Land Management with identifying fish species present in the ponds on the property.

** Important note: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program. Waivers can be downloaded at Explore Volusia and completed ahead of time.

ACTIVITY: This will be a two-hour freshwater shoreline fishing experience.

RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered.

TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.

AGES: Ages eight and up are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes that can get muddy and wet, comfortable clothing for the outdoors

** Some of our trails have mud and/or standing water because they are located in wetland ecosystems and because of seasonal rains and high tides. We recommend you bring a pair of waterproof boots in addition to your regular shoes if you don't want your shoes to get wet. Our leader will let you know the condition of the trails prior to the start of the program.

WHAT TO BRING: fishing gear, freshwater fishing license (required to participate), water, bug spray, sunscreen

FACILITIES: There is a port-a-let on site but no running water.
