Join us for an evening of literature, poetry, and storytelling celebrating the launch of Gianna Patriarca’s new book, “Ciociara/?/Canadese”.
About this Event

The evening will begin with an introduction by Professor Bruno Magliocchetti of the University of Toronto’s Department of Italian Studies, followed by a reading and talk with Gianna Patriarca. She will share excerpts from her new book, “Ciociara/?/Canadese”, as well as selections from her acclaimed earlier collection, “Italian Women and Other Tragedies”. Through her readings and reflections, Patriarca will explore the ideas, memories, experiences, and stories that have shaped her work across the decades.
Through poetry, personal reflection, and storytelling, Patriarca's writing explores Italian and Italian-Canadian experiences, women’s lives, identity, memory, and the complexities of belonging.
Bio:
Gianna Patriarca

Gianna is the author of 13 books, poetry, short fiction, children's literature and essays. Her award-winning work is extensively anthologized, appears on numerous documentaries and has been dramatized on CBC radio and Canada Stage. Gianna Patriarca is an award-winning author Her first book, Italian Women and Other Tragedies, is in its 4th printing and was runner-up for the Milton Acorn People's Poetry Award. Her work is extensively anthologized and adapted for screen. Gianna lives in Toronto.
