About this Event
From actor, writer, director James Andrew Walsh, "Oscar Wilde About America" is a documentary fantasy feature that reimagines Oscar Wilde’s 1882 tour of America as a 2023 roadtrip. Wilde's contemporary journey of magical realism leads Oscar to the queer joy, love, and liberation that eluded him 141 years ago... with the attendant themes of diversity, identity, and inclusion beautifully expressed in the film's original song based on one of Wilde's most popular quotes, "Be Yourself, Everyone Else Is Taken".
Filmed in London and in multiple locations across the United States (NYC, Washington DC, Winston Salem, Alabama, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, The Grand Canyon), this comedy stars Oscar Conlon-Morrey (Mother Goose with Sir Ian McKellen), Academy Award, Golden Globes, BAFTA, Emmy and Tony winners and nominees Spiderman's nominee Rosemary Harris (Aunt May) and Grey's Anatomy's Kate Burton (Ellis Grey).
Features the original song "Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Taken", music and lyrics by Eamonn O'Dwyer, courtesy of Eamonn O'Dwyer and Rhode Trip Pictures.
