About this Event
Despite Euzhan Palcy’s impressive and influential career in cinema that the Academy of Motion Picture recognized in awarding her its exceptional Honorary Oscar in 2022, therefore making her join a restricted list of unique, world-class artists like Walt Disney, Agnès Varda, and Samuel L. Jackson, there has been no academic convention nor monograph devoted to her rich and complex artistic trajectory. During this first-ever, one-day Ciné-Symposium, a dozen specialists in cinema, the Caribbean, and Black cultures and history will convene to offer innovative approaches to Euzhan Palcy’s works. The symposium will also include a temporary photo exhibition of screenshots and exclusive behind-the-scenes visuals.
This symposium will take place on April 2, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM and is open to everyone. More information about the schedule of presentations will be released soon.
