My CI Journey – Sharing Japan Research

After spending a full month dancing and researching Contact Improvisation in Japan, I feel inspired to share this experience with you.

This session is open to all levels of CI and Improvisation.

We will play with ideas, body, space, touch and surrounding, to deepen your presence in CI and explore physical and spatial contact with partners or the group.

1.  21. March Saturday: The focus is on contact improvisation, we will weave in shadow work, light and shadow – how does this affect our dance, our perception of contact, the decisions we make in light or shadow? We will play, explore and weave our dance together. (Inspiration by Rie Takagi)

1. 18. April Saturday: We will also focus on dancing in contact with objects, for example: How does a contact trio with another dancer and a chair come about? How do we stay connected to ourselves, the other person, and the object? (Inspiration by Colleen Coy)

1. 16. Mai Saturday: Ying and Yang in our belly, Ying to soften our movements, to go inward, Yang to open up and express our need to show ourselves. Where do we find this flow in our dance in contact improvisation? (Inspiration by Wataru Murakami)
