On this tour he’ll be playing with ¿Qiensave? as well as members of his own band. Expect new songs, old songs, curve balls, classics and a seriously good time from a “renaissance rocker” (Uncut).
From his days with legendary Paisley Underground outfit Green on Red to his solo career, which now stretches to over a dozen critically acclaimed albums, Chuck Prophet has been at the forefront of the Americana scene and his shows a brilliant mix of searing guitar solos, insightful lyrics, entertaining stories and tunes. Lots of tunes.
A cancer diagnosis temporarily applied the brakes but gave him the opportunity to listen to a lot of music and he discovered a band called ¿Qiensave?, leading exponents of Cumbia music, a style that originated in Columbia and spread to Mexico and California, where the band are from. Fast forward to today and Prophet has recorded his latest album, Wake The Dead, with the band and delivered a heady mix of rhythmic rock’n’roll, punk, surf and soul, shot through with nods to Cumbia’s roots.
