Get ready for the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Lights Event, taking place on Thursday 20th November 3-8pm.The magical transformation will begin when the sun sets, and a variety of charity, craft, and gift stalls will line Cornhill and the Buttermarket, adding to the festive magic. The Snow Lion will be making an appearance with the Red Queen and a new magical Polar Bear.
This date coincides with St Edmund’s Day. Bury St Edmunds takes its name from King Edmund, the original Patron Saint of England and King of East Anglia, whose shrine at the Abbey of St Edmund was once one of England’s most famous and wealthy pilgrimage sites. To mark the significance of this day, there will be a FREE children’s craft workshop hosted by Crafty Foxes, with an opportunity to take a photo with St Edmund and his wolf, so make sure to pop down!
The Snow Queen and Friends will be wandering around the town centre and Santa and his sleigh will also make a special appearance. There will also be fairground rides and live stage performances by local schools and artists.
The Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Lights Event is brought to you by Our Bury St Edmunds Business Improvement District and supported by the Bury St Edmunds Town Council and Shop Safe.
In the arc Shopping Centre there will be the Glow in the arc event from 3pm to 6pm. For more details visit the arc Shopping Centre website.
