Chandor Gardens Foundation invites you to a very special Christmas season Wine & Music event "Christmas Fantasy Concert" featuring Larrissa (piano) & Eugene (violin) Cherkasov on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Chandor Gardens. Doors open at 6:30 PM with the performance starting at 7:00 PM.

Larissa Cherkasov - piano
Larissa Cherkasov was born and raised in the city of Baku in the former Soviet Union, and received her first musical training at the age of six in a special school for gifted children. She graduated with honors from Baku State Conservatory with a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. Larissa initiated her career by winning a chamber music competition. Since then she has performed extensively as a soloist, collaborative artist and chamber musician, and has appeared as a guest artist with various orchestras throughout the Soviet Union.
In 1990 Larissa and her family were forced to leave their homeland due to the ethnic war.
Since arriving to the United States in 1991 Larissa participated in numerous summer festivals in Michigan, Vermont, Virginia, and Canada where she collaborated with such acclaimed artists as Janos Starker, Robert MacDuffie, Martin Lovett. She was a soloist with several orchestras in the US, has been an official accompanist for Cliburn Piano Institute and several National Young Artist competitions, collaborated with the Fort Worth Symphony productions of Dvorak’s “Rusalka”, Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin”, and Mozart’s “Magic Flute”. Her appearances as a piano soloist for the Fort Worth - Dallas Ballet Company, Arlington Ballet, and TITAS enhanced their production. The violin and piano Duo with her husband, Eugene, has conquered the hearts of enthusiastic audiences in Italy, Germany, Canada, and the United States.
Larissa is a founder of the Wedgwood Chamber Music Series in Fort Worth, where she frequently performs with the different chamber groups, promoting classical and modern music.
For 25 years Larissa is with Unity Fort Worth, first as a pianist and since 2011 as a Music Director. She works at TCU School for Classical & Contemporary Dance since 2001, and has her private studio in Fort Worth.
Eugene Cherkasov - violin
Eugene Cherkasov has been a member of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra for 30 years. He was born and trained in Baku, USSR, and started his career after winning a National Competition at the age of eighteen. Eugene received international acclaim after performing as a soloist and first violinist with the Quartet of Modern Music at the Frankfurt Feste-89 and at Beethovenhaus in Bonn, Germany. At that time he traveled extensively promoting new composers for wide audiences throughout the USSR and abroad. He later served as the concertmaster of several orchestras in Moscow. In 1990 Eugene and his family moved to Mexico, where he performed with the Mexico State Orchestra. Winning the position of first violinist with the Thouvenel String Quartet brought him to the United States in 1991. Eugene has served as concertmaster and appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras. He has also performed in festivals in Michigan, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Vermont, Canada and Germany, was a faculty member of the Wintergreen festival in Virginia. Eugene has participated in various summer festivals in Italy, including Geminiani and Nei Suoni dei Luoghi, where he performed violin-piano recitals with his wife, Larissa. In 2004 Eugene was a soloist with the renowned Ensemble Archi Della Scala di Milano, performing Bach and Haydn concertos in France.
Eugene graduated with honors from the Baku State Conservatory with a Master’s Degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy. He also obtains an Artistic Diploma and a Doctorate from the Moscow State Conservatory, where he studied with professor S. Kravchenko. Currently Eugene is Assistant Concertmaster of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and dedicates much of his time to teaching and performing chamber music.
