Step back in time and celebrate the holiday season with us at the 1820 Col. Benjamin Stephenson House! Join us on Saturday, November 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. for our annual Christmas Candlelight Tours.The historic home will glow with candlelight and be decorated in early 19th-century holiday style, giving visitors a chance to experience the warmth and traditions of Christmas in the 1820s. Stroll through beautifully decorated rooms while costumed interpreters share the stories of the Stephenson household and holiday customs of the era.
In the kitchen, you’ll see speculaas—a traditional spiced shortcrust cookie from the Netherlands and Belgium—baking in the hearth. Try a simple country dance in the dining room, join in carols around the 1820 pianoforte in the parlor, and enjoy festive vignettes in the servant’s cabin, master bedroom, and children’s room—offering a lively glimpse into holiday life over two centuries ago.
Tours run every 20 minutes, starting at 5:00 p.m. with the last tour at 7:40 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and must be purchased online in advance for a specific time slot. Guests should arrive 10 minutes early to check in at the gift shop. Your online receipt will serve as your ticket—no paper tickets will be issued.
The Stephenson House will be closed for daily tours November 27–30 for Thanksgiving and event preparations.
