Ray Harral Nature Center and Tulsa Audubon are teaming up for a Christmas Bird Count! Learn more about the birds that call Ray Harral home during the winter while participating in the longest running community science project in the country! Ray Harral naturalists and members of the Tulsa Audubon Society will lead bird hikes through the forest counting birds as we go. After we count, enjoy a bagged lunch and help tally our results so that we can share them with the annual E-bird’s Christmas Bird Count Project! The Christmas Bird Count is a 123 year old event that takes place every year around the Christmas holiday where bird lovers of all ages and skills count all the birds they can see. This is a family friendly event! Together we will learn more about the project, about birds we might see, and split into bird watching teams. We will be going out rain, snow or sunshine, so dress prepared for the weather! We’ll provide a limited amount of binoculars, you’re encouraged to bring your own if you have them. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
