Christmas At The Table

What do a Roman emperor, a common language, and Bethlehem’s shepherds have to do with Christmas?
More than you might think.
Join us for Christmas at the Table—three evenings of good food and engaging presentations exploring the history, people, and traditions behind Christmas. We also have an evening prepared for children, with optional activities to explore, discover, and create.
Enjoy a complimentary dinner, then settle in for a thoughtfully prepared, 45-minute presentation. Discover intriguing details about the world Jesus was born into, the events surrounding his birth, and the ways we celebrate today.
December 3 | The World Behind the Story
A promise. An empire. A shared language. Centuries of waiting. Explore how Roman rule, the Greek language, and the centuries before Jesus’ birth set the stage for the first Christmas.
December 10 | The Story Behind the Manger Scene
A Roman census. The significance of Bethlehem. The importance of sheep and shepherds. Discover the historical and cultural details that bring familiar parts of the Christmas story and a baby being born into sharper focus.
December 17 | Traditions and Customs for Celebrating Christmas Today
Explore familiar Christmas customs, the stories they carry, and how they help us understand and celebrate Jesus’ birth today.
These evenings are designed for our community in mind. No Bible knowledge or church background is needed. Whether you’re curious, skeptical, or haven’t been inside a church in years, you’re welcome.
If attending a church service feels like a big step, a shared meal and an informative presentation can be a comfortable place to begin. Come with a friend or on your own. Enjoy dinner, learn something new, and simply listen.
