Sunday Sept 6 from 5 to 7pm
In the Woodstock Shivastan Bookshop secret garden 6 Sgt Richard Quinn Drive Woodstock NY
The new release is “Who Can Come to America?” by Christina Starobin ⭐️
Christina says:
“My epic poem, WHO CAN COME TO AMERICA?, is now available thru cyberwit. It is a record of two private tours of Ellis Island as well as time spent in their library viewing a collection of photos (a photographer lived on the island for over ten years). Built on a sandbar, Ellis Island was a landfill made with the dirt from the then beginning New York City subways & Grand Central.
Il might make you reevaluate your perceptions.”
Born in New York City, Christina Starobin attended Great Neck North Senior High School where she won a first prize in poetry in the National Senior Scholastic Writing Awards. She then attended Harvard, graduated cum laude, and went to live briefly in Los Angeles. Returning to New York, she worked at any number of office jobs and received her masters from Columbia University, going on to get a Ph.D. from NYU in English.
Hosted by poet Shiv Mirabito! Plus you still a vegetarian potluck, informal open mic sharing circle, & sunset bonfire 🔥
Please bring snacks, drinks, & poems, & spoken words to share!
Admission is by donation ☀️
