Katherine Stewart is an investigative journalist who has been covering the rise of the anti-democratic movement for over sixteen years. Her latest book, Money, Lies, and God: Inside the Movement to Destroy American Democracy (Bloomsbury 2025), was an instant New York Times bestseller. Her previous award-winning book, The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism (Bloomsbury 2020), formed the basis of the documentary feature God & Country, produced by Rob Reiner.
The Rev. Dr. Rob Schenck is an evangelical minister who worked for decades at the highest levels of Christian nationalist circles. An activist and leader of the religious right, Rev. Schenck spent years ministering to U.S. Presidents and Supreme Court Justices while also lobbying them on conservative social issues. Through time, he distanced himself and finally extracted himself from the movements that he helped found and lead. He now spends his time pushing for gun reform, advocating for social justice causes, reproductive choice, and religious inclusion.
The Rev. Janna Louie is the Baptist Joint Commission’s chief of staff. Ordained in the American Baptist Churches, USA, Rev. Louie recently joined BJC after working for more than a decade in the university context with graduate students and faculty. The BJC is responsible for ‘Christians Against Christian Nationalism’ campaign that is uniting diverse Christians across our country to push back against Christian nationalism. Rev Janna is committed to religious liberty and fighting for the rights of others with mutuality and in solidarity.
Dr. Taino J. Palermo has worked for the last twenty years to affect change in policy and practice in the areas of nonprofit management, community and economic development, and education reform. Dr. Palermo is a founding faculty member of College Unbound and served as the Director for both the Community Development and Healthy Communities degree programs at Roger Williams University’s University College in Providence, Rhode Island where he founded the state’s first and only graduate program in Community Development. In 2022, Dr. Palermo completed his law degree at Roger Williams University School of Law where he co-founded the American Indian Law Student Association, and most recently, co-founded the Center for Indigenous Peoples Rights, the only pro bono legal services and policy center on the east coast. Dr. Palermo also teaches Federal Indian Law and Tribal Courts & Governments courses at Roger Williams University School of Law. Tai is going to help us unpack the White Christian Nationalist origins that are in the colonization of First Nations Peoples and the founding of the United States.
