CHP Academy Prep Day 4 / Central Division @ CHP Merced Area Office

Applicants,

You are invited to attend the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Central Division Applicant Preparation Program (APP) Phase II & III. This CHP Academy Prep Workshop is specifically designed for applicants who are currently in the CHP hiring process and have already passed the Physical Abilities Test (PAT) and written test. The program will help you prepare for the mental and physical demands of the CHP Academy.

Workshop Details

Date/Time: Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 1730 hours

Location: CHP Merced Area Office, 1500 Bell Drive, Atwater, CA 95301

Itinerary Includes (but is not limited to):

• Drill
• Staff Office Reporting
• Physical Training (PT)
• Knowledge Preparation

What to Bring:

• Printed and signed Physical Training Waiver: Physical Training Waiver Link

• Water
• PT shoes and your CHP Academy boots (recommended to have if you’ve received an academy invite; if you have them —start breaking them in!)
• Workout attire: Black T-shirt preferred (white is acceptable, must be tucked in), dark workout bottoms (shorts, sweats, or leggings), and athletic shoes
• Weather-appropriate gear (hat, sunblock, hoodie, gloves, etc.)
• Small towel (recommended)
• Something to take notes with

Important Reminders:

3. Preparation – Be aware that the workshop involves physical training, and you may get dirty. We recommend bringing a small towel for comfort. You will be held accountable for your actions, so please ensure you are well-prepared.
4. RSVP Courtesy – If you cannot attend, please unregister. Your RSVP confirms attendance.

Academy Tip:

Start studying your knowledge material now, and if you already have your boots start wearing them daily to break them in.
