Choose Your Own Adventure Bag Making Retreat

It's a sewing retreat, so there will of course be lots of time for sewing, so bring whatever bag or bags you’re excited to work on (or want a little extra help with). Each attendee gets their own spacious 6-foot table to set up and leave their machine all weekend long.
Now for the choose your own adventure part of the retreat. We are planning SEW many activities to pick and choose from at this retreat that are all included in your registration fee!

Zip Your Way to Stardom Contest- We'll send you a no frills zippered bag pattern when you register. Jazz it up however you'd like - add some piecing, some applique, decorative stitches, change the shape, add it to another bag. . . the only limitation is your imagination. We'll collect the bags at the beginning of the retreat and have everyone vote for their favorite.

11 am Interfacing & Stabilizers Deep Dive
We'll cover the range of interfacings available, share samples of projects, and help you figure out your preferred combination!
1 pm Tool Demo
2 pm Customize Your Bag Making
Have you ever thought I like this bag, but . . . I wish it was bigger, I wish it had another pocket, I wish it looked more interesting. In this class we'll talk through all different ways to customize your bags and inspire you with ideas!
4 pm Tool Demo
7 pm Make and Take
The project is a surprise, but we know you’ll love it! And even better you’ll go home with it finished!
10 pm Doors Close
No need to clean up, just leave your sewing space as is and enjoy a good night’s sleep. We’ll lock up the doors so all your supplies will be safe until tomorrow.

11 am Bag Hardware 101: What is all this Stuff?
The wall of bag hardware can be a little overwhelming sometimes. Let us help you demystify it. We’ll go through all the different types of bag hardware, when to use them, and how to install them.
1 pm Tool Demo
2 pm Zip It Up with Ease
If the thought of installing a zipper makes you want to hide your sewing machine, this class is for you! Come learn different techniques for installing zippers, along with tips and tricks that make zipper installation easier and less intimidating. You’ll leave feeling more confident and ready to tackle your next zipper project!
4 pm Tool Demo
7 pm Make and Take
The project is a surprise, but we know you’ll love it! And even better you’ll go home with it finished!

Bags are a great place to feature other materials like cork, vinyl, faux leather, mesh, and more. In this class, we’ll talk about what to consider when working with these materials, including cutting and handling, ways to hold pieces in place without traditional pinning, pattern modifications, and other tips and tricks for sewing with specialty materials.

2 pm 10 Secrets to a More Professional Looking Bag
4 pm Doors Close
All good things must come to an end. It’s time to pack up your sewing supplies, say goodbye to your new friends, and head home with plenty of new memories—and hopefully a finished project or two!
