THE dates are set for the biggest events of the year in Chobham and the surrounding area. The 2025 Carnival will be on Monday, 5 May, with the May Ball on Saturday 3 May.
Arrangements for the events are already well advanced and the organising committee is meeting regularly to make sure they both live up to their reputations.
The theme for the carnival procession is Space, as suggested by the winner of last year’s programme illustration competition, Jack, aged 10, of St Lawrence Primary School. This year’s main arena attraction is camel racing, a spectacle that was much enjoyed when it featured at the carnival in 2012.
And the superb band Pink Fish tribute band will again be providing the entertainment for the ball.
There is a myriad of options for creating some impressive procession entries, from depictions of the planets and the Universe to Buzz Lightyear and the International Space Station. So get planning now, to help create yet another impressive parade.
The carnival fete is also again planned to feature displays by Prime Acrobatics and SV Elite Dance Studio, performances by the Rock Choir, St Lawrence School maypole dancers and Chobham Morris and a traditional Punch and Judy show. Plus, there will a full-scale fun fair, dozens of stalls and sideshows and a great selection of food and drink.
Tickets for the ball are a bargain £45 per person, which includes canapés, a two-course meal, coffee and live entertainment. Get a group of friends together now to make up a table!
