Multi Award Winning Scottish/Punjabi singer songwriter and harpist hosts Australian harp/fiddle duo for their first UK Tour
About this Event

Chloe Matharu is an award-winning Scottish Indian singer, songwriter and harpist from the West Coast of Scotland. Many of her songs draw on her time as a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy, inspired by the natural world as experienced at sea. On tour she performs solo with her harp in English, Scots and Welsh. Her music offers “an intriguing insight into a new tradition of maritime folk music with thoughtful song writing embellished by her voice and superb harp playing” – The Herald. She is currently on the shortlist of nominees for the Scots Singer of the Year Award 2023. In 2023 she has performed at Celtic Connections, Cambridge Folk Festival and Hartlepool Folk Festival amongst others.

“absolutely incredible” BBC Woman’s Hour

“superwoman enigma…incredibly talented” BBC The Afternoon Show

Descending from the mountains are harp and fiddle extravaganza Mickey & Michelle, whose energetic and virtuosic performances have captured hearts throughout Australia and New Zealand. Celebrated for their artistry and virtuosic skill, Mickey & Michelle weave a gorgeous ‘chamber-folk’ tapestry of original Celtic music infused with vocal harmony and fiery improvisations.

The duo’s inception began with a wild idea to tour the length of New Zealand on foot for 6 months. This adventurous spirit continues to fuel their creativity, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the natural world. Through their carefully crafted lyrics and instrumentals, listeners are invited to reflect on their own relationship with nature.

Having honed their craft on the festival circuit, Mickey & Michelle exude a natural comfort on stage that comes from years of close collaboration. One minute the duo share a cheeky anecdote from their travels, the next they unleash an original tune of dexterous wizardry, leaving the audience in tears.

Mickey & Michelle are excited to release their sophomore album Solace in Wonder this winter, having spent the last five years developing their compositions and arrangements. The album showcases Michelle’s virtuosity in her eight minute epic harp concerto Grove of Giants, while Mickey’s poignant lyricism is on full display as they deftly explore their relation with the natural world, while also celebrating music making and community.

A show not to be missed! Catch them on their first Australian East Coast tour this winter.
