UN Chinese Language Day (Chinese: 联合国中文日; pinyin: Liánhéguó zhōngwénrì) is observed annually on April 20.

Join Dr Fang Zong in the Lee Kai Hung Chinese Culture Gallery for an engaging introduction to the fascinating world of Chinese characters. Unlike the English alphabet, Chinese writing is made up of pictograms - characters that carry meaning through their shapes and structures. You’ll learn how pictograms work, for example, how 木 (mù) means wood, and when doubled, 林 (lín) means forest.

This interactive session invites everyone to sit down, explore the stories behind Chinese characters. Whether you already know some Chinese or are just curious, it’s a fun and relaxing way to discover how language, art, and culture intertwine.
