Chinese Calligraphy for Beginners – Write Your Chinese Name (Solihull)

Join us for a relaxing and cultural Chinese Calligraphy Workshop, where you can experience the beauty of traditional Chinese writing.

In this beginner-friendly session, you will learn the basic strokes of Regular Script (楷書) and discover how Chinese characters are formed. With step-by-step guidance, participants will practise writing simple characters and may also learn how to write their own Chinese name or create a small blessing card design.

Chinese calligraphy is not only a writing skill but also a peaceful and mindful art form. This workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, enjoy the creative process, and explore a traditional art that has been practised for thousands of years.

All basic materials will be provided for practice during the session.

Please note: As the workshop is hosted at Boston Tea Party, participants are kindly asked to purchase at least one drink or food item from the café during the session.

The workshop will be guided by Cris Wong, an experienced visual arts educator with over 20 years of teaching experience, who enjoys sharing Chinese art and culture with the community.

Beginners are very welcome — no previous calligraphy experience is required.
