We’re closing out our Decade of Dead Summer with an evening of live music on the patio at
Day Block Brewery in downtown Minneapolis, MN.

China Rider is a high-energy, five-piece rock & roll band dedicated to bringing the music of the Grateful Dead to life. More than just a tribute act, China Rider recreates the magic, excitement, and improvisational spirit of an authentic Dead show—right in your backyard.
Dreamed up by Logan Thomas in 2015, the band began as a group of passionate local musicians tackling the challenge of capturing the Dead’s legendary sound. After nearly a year honing their craft in The Bunkhouse, they finally took the stage in June 2016 in downtown St. Cloud, MN—and haven’t looked back since.

So, what’s in a name? China Rider comes from one of the most iconic Grateful Dead medleys: China Cat Sunflower flowing seamlessly into I Know You Rider—a staple in Deadhead culture. And just like that, a tribute band was born!
