The program is held in a safe and positive group environment that supports children in monitoring and adapting their social language, understanding, and thinking about others.

• September 10 through November 12, 2025
• Wednesdays 4:30 to 5:30 PM
• Services will be provided at MWU’s Speech-Language Institute: 3450 Lacey Rd, Downers Grove, Illinois 60515
Explorer group participants should:
• Be between the ages of 8 and 13 years old.
• Be able to tolerate a 1-hour session once a week.
• Provide a copy of a recent speech and language evaluation or IEP.

— Session Details —
We will work to address each child’s specific language and social communication goals while increasing social language skills through:
• Direct instruction
• Skill practice with peers
• Role-playing
• Naturally occurring events
• Video modeling
• Collaborative games
The Midwestern University Speech-Language Institute in Downers Grove, IL, hosts programs for both preschool and school-aged children. Our programs are run by graduate-level clinicians and supervised by a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist.
