West Baton Rouge Museum is pleased to offer two monthly creative children’s workshops, one designed for ages 4 – 6 from 10:30 – 11:30 AM immediately followed by another class for 7 - 12-year-old students from 12 – 1 PM on the same day. This month’s Children’s Art with Ms. Shauna will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026.The themes for the January classes will honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday. Early learners will enjoy a story book reading about Dr. King followed by making unity flower compositions using colorful paper, glue and crayons. Older learners will make meaningful unity circle compositions incorporating heart shapes and tracings of their arms and hands on colorful paper that they will embellish with positive messages and intricate designs.
Shauna Landry is a Louisiana native who has a decade of experience working with children in art. From painting and drawing to instructing young minds how to break complex objects into foundational images, Shauna is excited to develop children’s artistic skills. Shauna received an associate degree from New Mexico State University in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor's from Arizona State University, and formal art instruction from the AHH Ha School of Arts in Colorado and the Young Rembrandts Program. She is currently teaching art at Ascension Christian School.
This program is offered FREE of charge and on the 4th Saturday of the month, except for alternate dates as needed for holidays and other special events. All art supplies are provided but space is limited to 10 students per class, and advanced registration is required.
