Childbirth Prep (In-person)

Our Childbirth Prep class is led by a certified childbirth educator and is designed to prepare you (as much as possible) to give birth to your baby. Our goal is for you to leave the class feeling informed, empowered and confident in your ability to give birth! By providing up-to-date information about labor and delivery, we hope to equip you with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions before and during labor.

Class Length: Two sessions, 4 hours each

**Scheduling Note: Our Childbirth Prep: 2 sessions class takes place over two sessions. When registering, you will only see listings for the first session; however, the second session is automatically included in the registration and will take place on the dates noted below. The two sessions can either be offered on Two Separate Days or both on One Day with a 30-minute break in between sessions. When registering, you will only see listings of the first session; however, both sessions are automatically included in the registration fee. Please take note of our current schedule and mark your calendars accordingly for both sessions.

Class Fee: $250 per couple

What you will learn:

• Anatomy review
• What is a contraction and what might it feel like?
• When to go to the hospital, what to expect once you get there and what to bring with you
• Stages of labor
• Medical interventions and decision making: IV, fetal monitoring, amniotomy, Pitocin, induction, assisted birth, episiotomy, cesarean birth
• Pain relief options: unmedicated comfort measures, nitrous oxide, analgesics/ narcotics, epidural anesthesia, spinal anesthesia
• Recovery and postpartum care

When to take the class: We recommend completing the class approximately 3 weeks before your due date or between 33 weeks to 36 weeks of your pregnancy, unless you are expecting twins or your physician has advised you otherwise.

All Childbirth Prep class formats cover the listed topics above, but the depth of discussion and in-class participation varies based on the chosen format. Some formats offer extensive discussions and active participation, while others provide a more condensed overview.

: This online class will be taught over the course of four 2-hour sessions, totaling 8 hours.

This online class will be taught in two 2-hour sessions, totaling 4 hours. Content is condensed for those who are unable to attend the 4 week series.
