Child Safety Community Conversations: Arts and Cultural Organisations
About this Event
Date & Time: Wednesday 17th June, 6pm - 9pm
Venue: Reception Room, Town Hall, 18 - 28 St John Street, Launceston
With Tasmania's Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework now in place, organisations must meet mandatory standards to protect children, prevent harm, and respond effectively to concerns — including the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
To this end, the City of Launceston in partnership with Laurel House are hosting a Community Conversation with Arts and Cultural organisations. To be clear, Council does not have a role in policing or administering the implementation of the framework. We hope to play a key role in supporting the cultural shift towards prioritising Child Safety in the Launceston Community.
Join us for an open, supportive gathering where like-minded organisations can:
• Share practical resources and ideas
• Discuss real challenges in meeting the Framework's requirements
• Build confidence in your organisation's systems and processes
Do you have questions like these?
• Do we fully understand our obligations under the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework?
• Which parts of the Standards are hardest for our club to implement?
• Are we prepared to identify and report reportable conduct?
This will be a safe, non-judgmental space to talk openly about what's working, what's challenging, and how we can all contribute to a Launceston where children and young people thrive safely.
What's included:
• A presentation from Laurel House (experts in preventing and supporting recovery from sexual violence and promoting child safety)
• Themed table discussions to share experiences and resources
• An opportunity to network - learn what the challenges and solutions for organisations like yours have been.
• Light meal provided
Places are limited - register now!
RSVP by 2nd June to allow for catering and planning.
