The Santa Cruz County Human Services Department (#1000048) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s and LEP’s. The Human Services Department maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This no cost training will provide child abuse and neglect mandated reporters with the necessary information they need to make a child abuse and neglect report. Using didactic and collaborative teaching methods this training will harness your existing knowledge of child abuse and neglect and will propel your understanding of the child welfare system in Santa Cruz County forward.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Be able to describe the steps needed to make a child abuse or neglect report.
2. Be able to identify at least one warning sign for neglect, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse.
3. Be able to name three risk factors that are related to child abuse and neglect.
4. Participants will understand how racial inequities may impact mandated reporting.
INSTRUCTOR BIO
Mary Bergman, LCSW,MSW, Training Supervisor for Family and Children’s Services, has worked in the field of Child Welfare as a Social Worker, Supervisor, and Trainer. The instructor possesses over 20 years’ experience and is a licensed clinical social worker (#11340). Instructor leans on her personal professional experience to illustrate examples of child abuse and neglect in the field of work
This course meets the qualifications for 3 hours of continuing education for LCSW’s, LMFT’s and LPCC’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Santa Cruz County Behavioral Health (SCCBH) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (71620) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, and/or LPCCs. SCCBH maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. You must attend the full session; no partial credit given.
