About this Event
Join us at Choose Joy Farm for a hands-on, beginner-friendly class designed for anyone interested in raising chickens. Whether you are just getting started or looking to improve your flock management, this class will walk you through the essentials of keeping happy, healthy backyard chickens.
During this experience, guests will step onto the farm and begin with a Meet the Flock introduction, where you will learn about the different breeds we raise, their personalities, and how to choose the right chickens for your goals. We will cover the basics of coop setup, bedding, and daily care routines, helping you understand exactly what it takes to maintain a clean and productive environment.
You will also learn about feeding and nutrition, including what to feed at different life stages, how to supplement properly, and common mistakes to avoid. We will discuss egg production, what to expect throughout the seasons, and how to support consistent laying.
This class includes a practical look at handling chickens safely and confidently, along with guidance on health, common issues, and predator protection to keep your flock secure.
We will wrap up with a Q&A session, where you can ask questions specific to your setup, goals, or challenges. Guests will also have the opportunity to interact with the chickens, observe their behaviors, and experience life on a working farm.
A professional photographer will be on site capturing beautiful photos of guests interacting with the chickens, with optional photo sessions available.
