Chicago Scholars Hosts Inaugural Celebration 'Reach for the Future' on November 13

Chicago Scholars will host the inaugural Reach for the Future: A Chicago Scholars Celebration on Wednesday November 13. The seven-year college access and acceptance organization which empowers academically ambitious students from under-resourced communities will bring together Chicago’s community and business leaders and Chicago Scholars supporters to recognize its positive impact on access to higher education.

Hosted at the Walden Chicago (2145 West Walnut Street) the event will feature a fireside chat with keynote speaker Alejandra Campoverdi author of the award-winning memoir FIRST GEN alongside current Chicago Scholars.

Alejandra Campoverdi is a prominent advocate for education and equity recognized for her extensive work in public service and media. A former White House aide under President Obama Campoverdi has dedicated her career to addressing issues of social justice and empowering underrepresented communities. Additionally she is the founder of the Latinas WH initiative which focuses on increasing Latina representation in politics and public service.

Preceding the event Chicago Scholars will host its flagship Onsite College & Leadership Forum on Friday October 25 designed to connect high-achieving underrepresented students with top colleges and universities from across the country. In a mass college interview day participating students will be among the first in the nation to receive admissions offers and merit packages.
