The Chicago Jazz Orchestra Summer Residency at the Jazz Showcase continues with a tribute to long-time Count Basie Band guitarist Freddie Green.
Guitarist Michael Pettersen, who knows Freddie Green’s son, obtained copies of the arrangements that were used for Freddie's only album as a leader: "Mr. Rhythm." The CJO celebrates the 70th anniversary of the album (recorded in 1955) by performing these charts, written for septet. The CJO Septet will be:
