The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus rolls into its 15th season on Saturday, January 24, 2026, with a theme that feels both timely and timeless: CHEWBACCHUS XV: REBELLIONS ARE BUILT ON HOPE. 🌈🔥Our rebel alliance is fueled by joy, satire, and community. Join us as Chewbacchus takes to the streets to prove that hope (and a glue gun) can change the universe.
Expect a glorious parade of 120+ subkrewes bringing handcrafted chaos, pop culture tributes, and unapologetic nerdiness through the Bywater, Marigny, and French Quarter. And yes, the legendary handmade throws return (bandoliers and bando blocks included) because rebellions should always come with souvenirs.
👑 Meet Our Royalty:
After eight legendary years as Overlord, Dr. Strangelover, Richard Riggs, takes his final bow and ascends to the throne as Chewbacchus XV, also known as High Priest Aetherius Strangelover, Keeper of the Sacred Drunken Mysteries, and Warden of Monsters and Myths. Long may he reign.
Route (Please note the slight change due to construction on Decatur):
Starting on St. Claude at Franklin, Chewbacchus rolls down the riverside of St. Claude, turning left on to Elysian Fields and proceeding all the way down to N. Peters. The right on to N. Peters will take us behind the French Market, past the Joan of Arc Statue to merge onto Decatur. The parade rolls past the iconic Jackson Square, ending on a final turn at Bienville and Decatur.
Bring your costumes, your krewe, and your rebellious spirit as we celebrate this cosmic milestone together.
