CMT Mainstage brings you Chess May 8–16, performed at the Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose.
From the legendary collaborators behind some of rock music's greatest moments, Chess is a complex rock opera that transforms the ancient game into a gripping metaphor for romantic rivalry, superpower politics, and international intrigue.
At the heart of the story is a love triangle: a brash American chess champion, an earnest Russian contender, and a Hungarian-American woman who arrives at the international championship in Bangkok. From Bangkok to Budapest, players, lovers, politicians, and spies manipulate each other against the pulse of a monumental rock score featuring "One Night in Bangkok" and "Heaven Help My Heart."
