Join the Chesapeake Mermaid on her 15th Anniversary tour as she brings her enchanting show to the U.S. Oyster Festival, captivating audiences with tales from the bay and introducing them to her fascinating wildlife companions. Your adventure includes storytelling, movement, song, bay creature sign language, and delightful encounters with the mermaid's wildlife friends. The two-day family-friendly food festival, focused on the beloved bivalve of the region, marks the beginning of oyster season on the Chesapeake Bay. Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including delicious food, live music, contests, artists, authors, non-profit exhibits, and more.
Get ready for a weekend of wonder—our program “The Last Bivalvian” kicks things off at noon both Saturday and Sunday, with “Giants of the Bay” making a splash at 3pm on Saturday and “Century Island” setting sail at 3pm on Sunday.
The U.S. Oyster Festival takes place on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, 2025 all day at St Mary’s County Fairgrounds, situated at 42455 Fairgrounds Rd, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Entry at the gate is $15 each day and $20 for a two day pass (available online at USOysterFestival.org). Kids under 10 are FREE. Food and drinks available for purchase.
