Artist Presentation Stage: Daily Journaling as a way to Focus and Explore Art
Host: Robin Stockton (Cherokee Nation)
Info: Using a daily journal can help focus thoughts, capture ideas on paper, and better artistic skills. Writing things down in the moment can help you remember an idea for an art piece that might otherwise be forgotten. Sometimes journaling can also help decide if an idea is worth pursuing further for a larger piece or if an idea should simply stay in the journal as an exercise. The journal is a safe place to explore and it does not need to be something that you show to anyone else. I can also show how at least one project came out of these notes and became award winning pieces. One of the projects I have in mind is the 3rd Place winner in paintings from last year's Cherokee Art Market. This piece started as an idea on a 4"x4" paper and became an award winning miniature and then an award winning painting.
