Course Description:

This 40-hour course competency an oriented training program. It is designed to develop specific competencies necessary to function as a Hazardous Materials Response Team member. This is accomplished through a combination of classroom activities, group discussion, observation, monitoring, research, tasking in chemical protective clothing, and field scenarios. This training program is structured to meet the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and the recommendations of NFPA 472, and also prepare the student for the State of Florida Hazardous Materials Technician Certification Exam. Students are required to attend and participate in all portions of each course segment. It is highly recommended that participants complete an OHSA 29 CFR 1910.120 compliant medical examination prior to attending the program.
