Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole [1997] (Listening Party)
About this Event
Nialler9 and The Big Romance present the Listen Closely series of listening parties, a night featuring a focus album from an artist we love on the last Wednesday of the month.
Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole [1997]
Dig Your Own Hole is the album that cemented The Chemical Brothers as electronic music's first true rock stars. Released in 1997 at the height of the big beat explosion, it fused punishing breakbeats, psychedelic textures, hip-hop swagger and acid house euphoria into a thrillingly loud and unapologetically fun record. With crossover chart hits like 'Block Rockin' Beats', 'Electrobank', 'Setting Sun' and the euphoric closer 'Private Psychedelic Reel'" the album balances dancefloor power with adventurous studio experimentation.
Join Nialler9 and a guest for a full loud vinyl playback of this modern classic dance album, along with a discussion the record. Key to the Listen Closely album listening series is hearing it through The Big Romance's wonderfully plush and clear Toby Hatchett soundsystem. We also chat about the artist's discography, the album's context, craft, production, and why the album matters recorded live for a Nialler9 Podcast episode.
Tickets are limited to 45 for this intimate event.
