About this Event
You've asked for it and Life Love Cheese finally created a Cheese 101 class for all the cheese lovers out there who want to dive into the wonderful world of cheese and learn about why cheese is such a magical product.
The thousands of cheeses in the world are made of four simple ingredients - milk, salt, enzymes and cultures. Oh...we forgot...there's also magic.
Join us for a 4-part class held at 5:30pm on the third Sunday of the month - January 25, February 22, March 22 and April 26. Space is limited to 12 people, so sign up soon.
Here's what we will cover (Each class will include a sample of 2 wines alongside the tastings):
- How Cheese is Made? Milk + Magic = Yum: Cheese is commonly made of Goat, Cow and Sheep Milk. We will tastes some cheeses made from each, talk about milk composition and show how those ingredients work with a simple curd making demo.
- Explore Cheese Styles: A flavorful tour through common styles of cheese like fresh, bloomy, washed, cheddar, pressed, washed, and blue.
- How to Taste Cheese: We all love the flavor of cheese, but during this session, we will use all the senses to taste compare similar cheese styles that have different sensory characteristics.
- The Art of Affinage: Our last class will celebrate how cheeses age and why it matters. We will same a few cheeses of different age to compare. We will sample a few sparkling wines as well.
Every student will recieve a copy of Stuff Every Cheese Lover Should Know by Alexandra Jones and a Cheese Log journal by Formaticum.
One additional perk to help you learn all about cheese, every student get 10% off all purchases in the store over the duration of the class (January 25 through April 26).
