Chasing Melody: In the Field II

Join Indiana Audubon researcher and Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary Operations Manager for an exclusive field evening deep inside Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary. We’ll track real-time movements of Wood Thrushes tagged with Motus radio telemetry as part of the 2025 Chasing Melody project, Indiana’s most ambitious full life-cycle tracking effort to date.

This is the first of a limited in-the-field series happening statewide, offering an up-close look at how science, conservation, and technology intersect to protect one of the Midwest’s most threatened songbirds. Your ticket supports the purchase of tags, towers, and tracking as funding cuts and tarrifs have led to more funding need.

Registration is required and limited to 10 participants. Event tickets are $20 for Indiana Audubon members and $25 per person for non-members, plus applicable Eventbrite processing fees.

• Birding Pace: Moderate walking with frequent stops. This is a .5-1.5 mile round-trip forested birding route.
• Physical Requirements: Moderate. The route includes flat trails, but may involve short distances off trail, where roots, rocks, limbs, and other obstacles could impede travel.
• Birding Skill Level: All levels welcome. We’ll talk field marks, research, and natural history on this amazing thrush.

• Full refunds are provided for Indiana Audubon events, field trips, and public programs canceled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
• Events, field trips, and public programs under $10 per person (excluding processing fees) are non-refundable, as proceeds support our work.
