Charlcombe Community Nature Reserve
About this Event
Join RIBA Bristol & Bath for a guided visit to the beautiful Charlcombe Community Nature Reserve, an inspiring example of community-led landscape stewardship on the edge of Bath.
This special tour offers the opportunity to explore how biodiversity, conservation, access and community engagement come together to create a thriving natural environment. Led by members of the Charlcombe Community Nature Reserve team, we'll discover the history of the site, learn about its ecological management, and discuss the challenges and opportunities of protecting and enhancing green spaces in an urban fringe setting.
As architects and built environment professionals, we have an important role in shaping places that work in harmony with nature. This visit provides an opportunity to step away from the drawing board, experience the landscape first-hand, and reflect on the relationship between people, ecology and place.
Whether your interests lie in architecture, landscape, ecology or simply enjoying Bath's remarkable natural surroundings, this promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking afternoon.
What to expect:
- A guided walk around Charlcombe Community Nature Reserve
- Insights into the reserve's history, ecology and ongoing management
- Discussion around biodiversity, community engagement and landscape stewardship
- Opportunities for questions and informal networking with fellow RIBA members
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for uneven ground and changing weather conditions.
We look forward to welcoming you for an enjoyable afternoon of exploration, conversation and connection with nature.
