Charity Concert for the Children of Gaza

This concert is being given in support of Children not Numbers, a charity providing medical treatment and evacuation advocacy for critically-ill and injured children in Gaza. While there is no charge for admission, we warmly welcome donations when reserving your ticket or at the retiring collection on the night.

The programme features John Rutter’s Mass of the Children, performed by the Voci Chamber Choir under the direction of Susan Piggott, and the Taplow Girls Choir led by their Musical Director Gillian Dibden MBE.

Tonight’s programme explores the many voices of choral music — from intimate reflections on the natural world to moments of spiritual depth and joyful celebration.

We begin with Voci in a set that moves from the delicate imagery of The Bee, through the mysterious twilight world of Elgar’s Owls, to the luminous serenity of Ešenvalds’ O Salutaris Hostia. Hagenberg’s Measure Me, Sky! invites us to reflect on human potential and aspiration, before we close the first half with the uplifting spiritual Every Time I Feel the Spirit.

In the second half, Voci and Taplow join forces for John Rutter’s radiant Mass of the Children — a work that combines innocence and maturity, power and tenderness, in a celebration of shared music-making across generations.
