The Charcoal Challenge 5k Fun Run fundraiser will be Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 9 AM in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Registration online is now open: https://runsignup.com/charcoalchallengefunrun.
This event is promoted by the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace for the benefit of our 501(c)(3) non-profit. All proceeds support recreation, education and conservation at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. This is a "Fun Run" that shows off our beautiful State Park using several park trails and roads. There will be no timer/no bibs, but all runners or walkers will receive participation prizes and free snacks/hydration. Well-behaved leashed dogs are allowed.
Please register at https://runsignup.com/charcoalchallengefunrun. You may also pick up a paper registration form in the State Park Office. Online registration ends on June 12 at 5 PM. After June 12, you can register on-site the morning of the event. The fee is $25. Registration is free for ages 12 years and under. We also offer bulk pricing for youth running clubs (please contact us directly at [email protected] to register a youth running club).
Event T-shirts are an additional fee ($20 adult sizes, $15 youth sizes) and are only available for registrations received by 5 PM on May 21, so that our local vendor has time to make the customized shirts.
Same-day registration opens at 8 AM on race day, June 13. Cash or check only, please. Runners/walkers must be at the start line by 8:50 AM for the 9 AM start. Restrooms are at registration.
The start/finish and registration area is the Furnace Stack Pavilion, located downhill from the State Park Office at 1100 Pine Grove Road, Gardners PA 17324. Participants should park in the grassy lot at Fuller Lake Day Use Area, 1050 Pine Grove Road, Gardners PA 17324. Allow 5-10 minutes to get from parking near Fuller Lake to the registration area near the old stone furnace stack.

(Please note that our Iron Run half-marathon has been permanently discontinued. However, we hope that you’ll join us for the 5k Fun Run to help us support our State Park.)
