Captain Tilton graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and served for 25 years as a Naval Officer, completing a distinguished career that qualified him to command any ship in the U.S. Navy.
A dedicated maritime historian and collector, Captain Tilton has assembled one of the finest collections of shipbuilder's plates and other unique maritime artifacts. He is a respected researcher and author of several feature-length articles published in PowerShips, including extensive studies of major shipbuilding companies such as Ingalls Shipbuilding.
An accomplished author, speaker, and maritime preservation advocate, Captain Tilton currently serves as an officer of both the national Steamship Historical Society of America (SSHSA) and its Southern California Chapter.
