This is not a political event. It is a community event, nonpartisan, culturally grounded, and driven by the people it serves. Durham and the Triangle are home to one of the most vibrant and rapidly growing Latinx communities in the Southeast, a region with a strong tradition of civic engagement and social justice. This is the right place for this conversation, and this community is ready for it.
The centerpiece of the summit will be community leaders who have lived and worked in countries where governments do not respect citizens’ human rights. Their firsthand stories will provide powerful real-world context for why democratic participation is not just a right but an act of self-advocacy, a declaration that the Latinx community is here, we count, and we will not be silenced.
From voter registration resources to candid conversations about civic power, this summit meets the Latinx community and allies where they are and equips them with tools to protect their families, dignity, and future. When we vote, we don’t just cast a ballot; we stand up for our rights.
