Championing Connection: Loneliness & Health for LGBTQ+ People in Later Life

Join us for a one-day seminar exploring loneliness, isolation, and connection in the LGBTQI+ community.
A one-day seminar marking International Day of Older Persons will take place on 1st October 2026 at 1 Windmill Ln, Dublin 2. This free event, hosted by LGBT Ireland, features national experts and community voices on the topic of loneliness and isolation among LGBTQI+ people.
Dr Joanna McHugh Power (Maynooth University) will speak on defining loneliness for health, alongside insight from LGBT Ireland's own helpline data on isolation in the queer community. We will also discuss building connection with panellists from LGBT Irelands Telefriending service and other LGBTQI+ service providers.
This event is suitable for health and social care professionals, service providers, policymakers, community organisations, and anyone affected by loneliness or isolation.
Places are limited to 80 attendees, and lunch and refreshments are provided.
