Program Description
Join us for an intimate evening of vocal chamber music featuring the distinctive combination of soprano, French horn, and piano.
Performed by soprano Shirley Wang, French hornist Timothy Moy, and pianist Agatha Hou, this thoughtfully curated program explores the expressive beauty of chamber music through works by Handel, Massenet, Fauré, Brahms, Schumann, and Richard Strauss. The evening features solos, duets, and trios that highlight the rich musical dialogue between voice, horn, and piano.
From the elegance of the Baroque to the warmth of the Romantic era, the program spans multiple languages, styles, and traditions, inviting audiences into an intimate musical conversation. Rarely heard together, this unique ensemble offers a distinctive listening experience that celebrates collaboration, lyricism, and the timeless power of live performance.
Artist Biographies
Shirley Wang, Soprano
Taiwanese-American soprano Shirley Wang is an internationally acclaimed performer recognized for her expressive artistry in opera, recital, and chamber music. A graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music, she has appeared as a soloist at Carnegie Hall and has performed throughout the United States in operatic productions, concerts, and cross-cultural musical collaborations.
Recent highlights include her role debut as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, performances in Hänsel und Gretel, and a featured appearance at TEDxLasVegas, where she combined storytelling with live operatic performance. On June 30, 2026, Shirley returns to Carnegie Hall as a soloist, continuing an active season of performances.
An active recitalist and chamber musician, Shirley is passionate about creating thoughtfully curated programs that bring together music from different languages, cultures, and historical periods. Her performances have been presented in concert halls, museums, libraries, and cultural institutions, inviting audiences to experience the beauty, intimacy, and storytelling power of classical music.
Timothy Moy, French Horn
Timothy Moy is a freelance horn player based in Los Angeles and Orange County. He currently serves as Principal Horn of the Bellflower Symphony and performs as a section horn player with the Whittier Regional Symphony.
An active orchestral and chamber musician, Timothy has also performed with the Four Seasons Orchestra, Pacific Brass, Southland Symphony, American Youth Symphony, Westside Ballet Company, Citrus City Brass, Fine Winds, the Dubois Orchestra, and the New England Brass Band. His performances have taken him to venues throughout California, Arizona, Massachusetts, British Columbia, and beyond, including appearances with the PRISMA Music Festival Orchestra and participation in the Rafael Méndez Brass Institute.
Timothy earned his Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance from California State University, Fullerton, where he studied with Steve Mahpar and Warren Gref, and his Master of Music in Horn Performance from Boston University under the guidance of Eric Ruske.
Agatha Hou, Piano
Pianist Agatha Hou studied at the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt, Germany, and with Johanna Harris in Los Angeles, California. She has served as accompanist to principals of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra and has collaborated on Hans Pizka’s French Horn Concert and with the Montreal Jazz Ballet in Taipei.
Ms. Hou has been a staff accompanist at the University of Redlands and served as Jury Secretary for the Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition. She is currently Bach Festival Chair for the MTAC Pomona Valley Branch, Honors Auditions Chair for CAPMT District IX, an evaluator for the MTAC Certificate of Merit program, and an adjudicator for numerous competitions and festivals, including SYMF, the Bach Festival, and the Sonata Festival. She also serves on the MTAC Certificate of Merit Syllabus Committee.
An active soloist and chamber musician, Agatha performs regularly with Tuesday Musicale, St. Cecilia, and the Dominant Music Club. She has also appeared as a performer at the Liszt Conference in Virginia.
